About Jhonny Evidence
Jhonny Alberto Henriquez Guerrero also known as Jhonny Evidence is a Bachata singer who was born on January 14, 1987 in the city of Higuey located in the Dominican Republic. Jhonny came from a family that enjoyed listening to bachata 24/7 and it helped him become familiar with the genre. From an early age Jhonny showed passion for music, to the point where he himself made a small guitar out of wood and nylon strings. When he was in school, he was very shy, and music was his only source of comfort. Jhonny’s admiration of many different bachata artists from the Dominican Republic all contributed to the start of his career.
In 2004, at the age of 16, Jhonny joined a bachata group called “Evolution” and recorded his first album, “Sentimientos” where he had his first duet with musical maestro Ramon Orlando. Unfortunately, his father wanted him to become an attorney instead of a musician and after being in the group for 3 years, Jhonny decided to leave and pursue a law degree. While in college, his passion for music never disappeared and that led him to withdraw from his studies in 2008. That same year, he formed an urban bachata group called “Evidence” where he recorded his second studio album “Soy Un Pobre Diablo”. This specific production had people confuse Jhonny with Romeo Santos and caused Jhonny to become noticed by record companies. His third album, “Confesiones”, contained the successful song “Colgando En Tus Manos,” a duet with Juliana La Reina Del Mambo. The group “Evidence” quickly began gaining global recognition and has continued to grow its fan base worldwide.
Jhonny describes his music as good quality with good sounding lyrics. Due to him wanting to preserve the essence of Dominican bachata, his music is a fusion of traditional and modern bachata. Jhonny Evidence has managed to dominate the bachata scene with his prolific songwriting and soothing voice. Under EQS Musica, Jhonny has recorded over 10 singles within 2020, including “Lejos Navidad” (November 2020), “Vivo Preso” (September 2020), “Tu Manera” (May 2020), and many more. Many of these singles include collaborations with international artists and DJ’s, such as “Desnuda” with Marco Puma, “Llora Corazon” with Mr. Don, “El Villano” with Lean & Akai, “Soñe Contigo” with DJ Ramon, “Cuidar Nuestro Amor” with DJ Zarnoti and many others. Jhonny Evidence is currently in the process of recording his next songs and will continue working hard to expand his reach within the bachata scene.
The Bachata Sensual Radio editorial team asked Jhonny what he would want to tell his fans. Jhonny responded, “I am thankful for the support my fans have given me these past years. Their support is the reason I never give up, the reason I continue to write songs while looking for the most beautiful melodies. My fans are the engine that power my career and I would say that after God, they are the most important part of Jhonny Evidence’s career”
